Halal Certified
The restaurant provides valid certification from an identified halal certification body. Certification scope and expiry should be recorded.
Muslim-Owned
The establishment is owned or operated by Muslims. This can be a strong trust indicator, but it is not identical to third-party certification.
Muslim-Friendly
The venue may offer suitable dishes or accommodate Muslim guests, but additional checks are required.
Questions to Ask
- Is the meat halal-certified, and who is the supplier?
- Are pork and non-halal meat handled in the same kitchen?
- Is alcohol used in cooking, sauces or desserts?
- Are fryers, grills, knives and utensils shared?
- Can the restaurant prepare a separate meal for Muslim guests?
